CREZallsport - Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions about using the CREZallsport System? Scroll through our FAQ's to see if the answer is here!

        1)  I cannot use the Video Capture function inside CREZ on my laptop. I use Windows Vista.

If you are unable to capture video using CREZ and are running CREZ on a computer with Windows Vista you need to turn off the Data Execution Prevention (DEP). To do this please follow the steps below.

  • Left click on the start button. Go to 'All Program--Accessories--Command Prompt'. Right-click on the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'. The command prompt should pop up reading C:/Windows/system32>
  • Enter "bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff". No quotes and the brackets around the word current must be curly also noting the spaces between words. You should receive a confirmation of success.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Try using CREZ again and see if the problem persists.

2)  Can I run CREZ on my Mac computer?

  • CREZ is a Windows based program. In order to run CREZ on your Mac you need to be able to run programs in a Windows environment. Two solutions are suggested:
  • Use a program called ‘Parallels’. Parallels will allow you to run programs in a Windows environment. Parallels will allow you to run your computer in a Mac and Windows environment simultaneously. For more information on Parallels please visit their website at www.parallels.com
  • If you are running the Mac Snow Leopard Operating System there is a pre-installed program called ‘Boot Camp’. If using Boot Camp you can only run a Windows or Mac environment, but not simultaneously. You will still need to purchase a Windows license in order to run Windows programs.

        3)  Can I attach a USB Tablet to use alongside CREZquikdraw?

If you attach a USB tablet you will be able to draw play diagrams using a digital pen. If a USB tablet is not used you can use the ‘Drawing Assistant Palette’ within CREZ. This helps to smooth out all mouse drawn play diagrams to give your diagrams a professional look.

4)  Do I have to put in players or fill out a roster when creating Teams?

You do NOT have to create a full roster of players when creating a team. All you must do to create a team is fill out the required fields which are shown in yellow.  You do NOT need rosters to create a game or cut up game tape.

If you are going to take statistics for a game you will need to enter rosters.

5)  Do I need to put in two teams to create a game?

Yes, you need to put in two teams in order to create a game, however, as mentioned above, you do not need to add players to the teams.

6)  What do I do if I have my game taped in halves or quarters? Do I have to add a full game video?

You do NOT need to add a single full game video. Within CREZ you can add video in either full games, halves or quarters. When associating video to a game inside ‘Video Manager’ you must state where the video begins and ends. For example, if your video is in two halves then first add the 1st half and state that the video begins at the start of the 1st half and ends at the end of the 1st half. Next, add the second video and state it begins at the start of the 2nd half and ends at the end of the 2nd half.

7)  How do I add video clips to my play diagrams?

Inside the Staff's Plays or PlayCalls tab, there are buttons across the top that will help you draw play diagrams. If you click on the icon named ‘Create a FileLink’ (piece of paper with green arrow) it will open the ‘Linked Files’ folder inside of the CREZ directory. To play video clips, you need to make sure the clips are placed in this ‘Linked Files’ folder. Select a clip and open. The clip will appear in the top left of the play diagram template where you can click and drag it to any location on the  template.

 8)  How do I add custom play calls for video tagging?

Inside CREZcomplete you can tag video based on specific play calls, that behave like hot keys. Once you open up a coach and are in the coach environment click on the ‘PlayCalls’ tab at the top of your screen. Here you can add or remove play calls that can be used for video tagging.

9)  When tagging using Play Calls do they have to be play calls? Can I add other names that are not play calls?

Yes. Tagging using Play Calls allows coaches to make clips based on any desired name. Consider  these as 'hot keys' so if you make clips of certain actions or events on a regular basis you can create a hot key. You have the choice to create as many play calls as you want. Examples are sideline out of bounds plays, baseline out of bounds plays, improper rotations, hustle plays, entry passes, or even player names.

10)  If I have purchased a CREZ product can I put it on another computer as well?

CREZ licenses are sold on a one license per computer basis. If you would like to place CREZ on another computer you must pay an additional license fee.

11) When opening CREZ I get an error message saying ‘No database file could be accessed!   Exiting Application...’

This error usually occurs when upgrading from a previous version of CREZ. In order to fix this all you need to do is re-install the CREZ program on top of your existing version without removing anything.

12)  How do I burn clips from CREZ to a DVD?

Once you have tagged numerous clips inside of CREZ you are able to extract these video clips outside of CREZ to another place on your computer. If you open up a game and look at the tagged clips inside of the ‘Game Event Log’ (GEL) you can select any clip, scroll to the bottom and select extract. You will then be asked to save this clip to a place outside of CREZ on your computer.

You can also enter the ‘Team Environment’ and extract clips by building a video list inside of ‘Video Analysis’. Here you can select multiple clips and extract simultaneously. Select your clips and once again it will ask you to save these to a place outside of CREZ on your computer.

Once you have saved these clips to your computer place your DVD into your computer. When your DVD burning program opens it will ask you what video you would like to burn to a DVD. Select the extracted clips and burn.

13)  How do I backup my CREZ database so I don’t lose any of my data?

From the Main Menu select ‘Exchange’ then ‘Backup Database’. It will ask you to save your database to a place on your computer. We at CREZ would suggest you save the database to an external drive or flash drive in case of a computer malfunction.

14)  I have a DVD of a game, but it won’t play inside CREZ. What do I do?

CREZ works with the following video formats: .wmv, .mpeg and .mp4

Therefore, if your DVD is .vob format you will have to do one of the following. You can either use a DVD ripping program to rip the DVD into one of the three preferred formats or you can simply copy the .vob files onto your computer and then rename the files to .mpeg. Remember you must copy the files from the DVD and move them onto your computer in order to rename the files.

15)  When installing CREZ,  I get an error message that says ‘Error 1720. There is a problem with the Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contac t your support personnel or package vendor.’

This occurs when there is an error with your Windows Installer Package. We recommend you upgrade your package to ensure CREZ will install correctly. For more information on the Windows Installer Package please use this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942288

16)   If I own one CREZ product (e.g., CREZquikdraw) can I upgrade to another product (e.g. CREZallsport)?

Definitely yes!  In fact, all you have to do is pay the price difference between the two product to upgrade.  You can do this within season or between seasons. When you upgrade, all of your data moves completely into the new product.  So, for example, teams using the free CREZscorer can, at a later date, upgrade to CREZcoach and be able to InstaTag all their previous games (for which they have stats) to video.
